Sea to Sky New Better at Home Program

Would you or somone you know like to become a Sea to Sky Better at Home Volunteer?

Quoting from Jane's e-mail:  "Many seniors are often on limited incomes and the cost of living in our Sea to Sky communities is not getting any cheaper.  Some seniors want to remain near their families and friends yet stay in their own homes, and need a little bit of help to be able to do that.  When they were younger their home was a welcoming place for neighbours and a safe and comfortable retreat for family.  With a bit of help from our volunteers, it still can be.

That is why our Sea to Sky Better at Home services are so important.  They support healthy aging by giving seniors assistance with day to day tasks so they have the ability to maintain their independence without becoming isolated;  the ability to stay connected to the community and feel a sense of belonging;  the ability to socialize with friends and go on outings; and to continue to live contentedly, with dignity.

Our volunteer drivers will be able to transport seniors to and from medical appointments, recreational activities and community events, getting them where they need to go safely and on time.  Our At-Home Volunteers will be able to assist seniors with simple tasks such as light housekeeping or simple home repairs.  Our Better at Home services exist because of youth, adult, senior adults, and family volunteers.

If you or someone you know would like to become a volunteer or want to learn more about this oportunity please call Jane Ballance at 604 892 5796 ext 403".
